Re: “Re-elect Mike Coffman in Colorado’s 6th CD,” Oct. 17 endorsement.

I am so disappointed in you, Denver Post. You are not only endorsing Rep. Mike Coffman, but you’re praising him for a “retooled position on immigration.” What? Letap just say that he’s trying to very hypocritically win Latino votes like mine. My Latino counterparts and I need a representative who will be on our side always, not just during campaign season. His actions certainly do not match his words. He says he supports immigration reform, but he does not act in our favor. A man who calls the DREAM Act a “nightmare” does not stand for immigrants. I am appalled that you would stoop so low to not see through Coffman’s manipulativeness. Latinos deserve better than this.

Your endorsement of Mike Coffman was right to point out that he has retooled his position on immigration and some social issues. What are we to make of his new thinking? Is this a thoughtful, reasonable man changing his position based on new information? Or is this a conversion under duress to save him from having to get a job in the real world? If he is re-elected, I hope The Post will watch him closely and hold him accountable to his words.

If you vote for Coffman because you think he will be a moderate, pragmatic, working-across-the-aisle problem solver, caveat emptor.
