Lutheran WR Josh Clausen keeps climbing the state’s record books.
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound senior is ranked in the top 10 all-time in receiving yards, receptions and touchdown receptions. And he has a decent chance at taking over the top spots in two of the categories if the Lions keep winning.
With two more regular season games and possibly four more in playoff, Clausen could end his high school career with the most receiving yards and touchdown catches in Colorado history. (Unless he averages 16-plus catches in those potential six games, Grand Junction’s Ryan Lenderman’s receptions record is safe).
Clausen has 3,318 receiving yards in his career, 582 behind Lenderman’s record of 3,900. If Lutheran makes the championship game, Clausen would need to average 97.2 to break it; he is averaging 125.8 this year.
Clausen’s 42 touchdowns is sixth all-time, behind Linderman, who owns the record at 49. Clausen needs 1.3 touchdowns a game for the final six. He’s averaging two a game this season, which would break the state record of 25 if Lutheran plays 14 games.
He has 42 catches for 1,006 yards and 16 TDs this season for the 8-0 Lions.
