Adam Brown is certainly putting the air into Air Academy.
The senior quarterback has had quite the season for the pass-heavy Kadets. He has thrown for more than 300 yards in seven of the team’s nine games, including a state record 589-yard performance against Sand Creek on Sept. 19.
His 3,316 passing yards this season places him sixth best all-time behind Arvada West’s Steve Cutlip. His 240 completions are ranked fifth all-time, and his 427 attempts are second in the record books. His 36 touchdown throws are just outside the top 10 all-time, tied for 12th with Florence’s Jim Adamson (1983) and Fairview’s Anders Hill (2013).
Air Academy (2-7) has one game left this season against Liberty (2-7). The state record for passing yards is 4,181 by Bear Creek’s Justin Holland in 1998.
Brown won’t break Holland’s record unless he crushes his own single-game mark by more than 200 yards, but several other Colorado players could have a crack at it depending on how far they advance in the playoffs. Fairview’s Johnny Feauto has 2,901 yards, Holy Family’s Chris Helbig has 2,849 and D’Evelyn’s Owen Burke has 2,701.
Here’s a look at where Brown’s stats rank among the all-time best and what they’ll be projected at by the end of the year:
