One person was confirmed dead Friday afternoon after a semi-trailer and sedan collided head-on near Hartsel on U.S. 24, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The crash happened about 1:30 p.m. Troopers were still assesing the scene as of about 2 p.m. and had closed the highway.
The fatality appeared to be in the sedan, according to Trooper Josh Lewis.
Information about potential injuries to others involved in the wreck was not immediately available. Lewis did not identify the victim.
Hartsel is located about 55 miles west of Woodland Park.
