Interview with Amanda Byrne, owner
Q: How did you get involved in this business?
A: My mom and dad owned an optical store in North Dakota for the last 25 years. Three years ago, my dad suddenly passed away and I left Colorado to run the business with my mom. I came back to Colorado, which is my home, to open another store here. My dad always said that his store would do really well here. I have been around optics for my whole life. This store is in honor of my dad. I invested money into starting my parents’ store at the age of 17.
Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?
A: This is a family-owned business. I am here to give customers high-quality eyeglasses at a discounted price. I have a free frame and lens warranty. My dad was great with people, and I have been told I am just like my dad. I thrive on great customer service. I provide people with good products and service. My store is set up in just a way to make you feel at home. Coffee and treats are always available.
Q: What do you like best about your line of work?
A: I really enjoy working with people. I love to fix someone’s glasses after they get broke and it’s their only pair. I love to see their face light up when they find that one great frame.
Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?
A: My biggest challenge is to just get the people in to the store. I know when they see the great quality products at low prices, they will be very happy.
Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:
A: I don’t provide the eye exam at my store yet. I will hopefully by this summer. My mom’s store has been in business for 25 years and doesn’t have an eye doctor, either. I am looking for just that right doctor that fits into our family business and wants to help people and give excellent customer service.
