Seven of Class 5A’s top eight seeds all advanced to the state football quarterfinals on Friday. No. 2-seed Rocky Mountain plays Fountain-Fort Carson on Saturday.

Fairview’s Tim Ryan had a field day against the Overland defense.

The senior wide receiver scored four touchdowns to lead No. 2-seed Fairview to a lopsided 45-27 win over No. 3 Overland.

Overland ends its season 7-3. Fairview improves to 11-0.

Grandview’s defense continued its dominant ways, shutting out its second consecutive team in the playoffs. In two games, the Wolves have outscored their opponents 91-0.

Pomona held off an upset bid for the second-straight week, beating Columbine by a touchdown. For Columbine coach Andy Lowry, it is his first losing season since taking over as the Rebels’ head coach.

Valor Christian sophomore QB Dylan McCaffrey threw three touchdowns as the Eagles dominated Mountain Vista in the second round of the playoffs.

Ralston Valley senior Collin Root connected on a 56-yard field goal on the last play of the game to send the Mustangs to the quarterfinals. .

In the battle of the Creeks, Cherry Creek proved too much for Bear Creek.

Regis Jesuit was too much for Heritage on Friday. The Raiders, tied with Ralston Valley and Valor Christian for best in 5A with 46 points a game, in the

Falcon’s Jeff Vela picked the perfect time to score his first touchdown of the season. The senior fullback connected on not one, but two scores to lead the No. 13-seed Falcons. A week after upsetting a ranked Vista Ridge 60-18 to end the regular season, Falcon came up to Denver to top Denver South.
