Colorado State remains nationally ranked — in volleyball.

As the football team nudged its way into the top 25, the Rams’ volleyball team was ranked for the 25th consecutive coaches’ poll, moving up a spot to No. 9. Illinois fell from ninth to 12th after a loss to Northwestern.

The Rams are 24-2 overall and 12-1, with a two-game lead, in the Mountain West Conference. They have home matches Thursday against Air Force (7 p.m.) and Saturday against New Mexico (1 p.m.).

Looking ahead to the NCAA tournament, there will be 16 host teams for four-team first round weekends, and CSU is No. 12 in the RPI, the most important factor in deciding those sites.
