Work began Monday along Hangman’s Gulch trail in Castle Rock to improve drainage and reduce the impact of flooding on the trail.
The job, which will require the removal of a large amount of dirt and debris from the channel, is expected to go on for the next four to five weeks.
The work is concentrated on an area west of Liggett Road, at the railroad crossing and at the intersection of Hangman’s Gulch and the East Plum Creek Trail. Generally construction hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Bikers, hikers and other trail users are asked to use caution.
