Rescuers on Tuesday found no clues in the Longs Peak search for a Broomfield man who did not show up to work this week after telling friends he would be in the area of Rocky Mountain National Park on Sunday.

Peter Jeffris, 25, reportedly left Sunday to summit Longs Peak. He did not arrive at work Monday, and his car was found in the Longs Peak Trailhead parking lot.

A search-and-rescue team began searching the area Monday afternoon until dark and turned up nothing.

Tuesday’s search was thwarted by wind gusts of up to 65 mph, which made it difficult for the 32-person team searching the north face of the mountain, Keyhole Route, Chasm Cirque and the Longs Peak Trail, RMNP spokeswoman Kyle Patterson said. The high winds also precluded an aerial search.
