Acorn in the Source artisan marketplace celebrates its new smoker. (Provded by Acorn.

The sign outside in the says Come Get SmOAKed, and it looks like a typo. But it s the second of two special pop-up events hosted by Acorn founders Bryan Dayton and Steven Redzikowski, who also own Oak at Fourteen in Boulder. So SmOAKed is a play on words, and it celebrates Acorn’s new smoker. The first SmOAKer, held last Sunday, sold out in an hour.

It was a big success, and we re expecting a bigger turnout this weekend because more people know about it, and are telling people, and coming back, said Marshall Hatch, a host at Acorn.

Acorn just got a big new smoker, so they re smoking a variety of meats in the parking lot. Last Sunday, all the meats sold out within an hour, so this Sunday, it s smart to get there early.

The menu includes a half-slab of baby back ribs ($19), pork shoulder ($12), half-smoked chicken ($14), smoked hot wings ($14), and burnt ends–those crispy, yummy, crunchy parts of ribs that people love so much. Sandwiches include pulled pork Carolina style, and burnt ends.

Sides include coleslaw, pit beans, seasoned fries, and kale salad with parmesan, smoked almond, and apple.

SmOAKed runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 23 at Acorn, 3350 Brighton Blvd. in the RiNo arts district.
