Forecasters are calling for heavy snow in the high country on Monday and strong winds along the Front Range as a weather system moves through the state.

A winter weather warning is in effect for much of the Western Slope until 5 p.m., the National Weather Service in Boulder says. Paired with high winds, blizzard conditions are possible.

“Expect slow travel and road closures in the high country,” the service said.

Some areas are forecasted to see as much as seven inches of snow.

A high wind warning is in effect until late Monday for the Front Range from the Wyoming border to Castle Rock. Gusts up to 75 mph are possible, the service says

“High profile vehicles and lightweight trailers may be susceptible to strong, sudden gusts of wind,” according to the service. “High profile vehicles may lose control when encountering strong winds and be may be at risk of blow over.”
