CSU running back Dee Hart (Steve Nehf, Denver Post file)
Colorado State junior running back Dee Hart was named Mountain West offensive player of the week, the conference announced Monday morning.
Hart earned his second weekly honor this year for his six-touchdown performance in the Rams’ 58-20 victory over New Mexico.
Hart, a grad student pursuing a master’s degree in education and human resources, rushed for a career-high 230 yards and five touchdowns on 20 carries. The native of Orlando, Fla., also had two receptions for 42 yards, including a 20-yard score. The six total touchdowns tie for the school record with former running back Kapri Bibbs, who rushed for six scores at New Mexico in 2013, and are the second-most in Mountain West history.
Hart tied Navy quarterback Keenan Reynolds for total points in a game this season with 36, and he is the fifth FBS rusher with at least five rushing touchdowns this season.
With the 230-yard rushing performance on Saturday, Hart became the 19th CSU rusher to eclipse 1,000 yards in a single season. On the year, he has 16 rushing touchdowns, which is fifth-best in a single season by a Rams running back.
The Rams, who are 10-1 for only the second time in program history, play their regular-season finale on Friday at Air Force.
