Denver music fans had the chance to see a different, quieter side of at the this weekend. Touring in support of his new solo album, “Tied to a Star,” Mascis took the stage to kick off his two-night Larimer Lounge run with an acoustic guitar on Friday. Fans of his main project, , are more than familiar with his typical volume: Loud, like really loud. But touring in support of his softer solo material, fans didn’t need to bring ear muffs, ear plugs and Tylenol to his Larimer show.
In August of last year, , bringing a short, loud set of greatest hits. The year before, Dinosaur Jr. and even after wearing ear plugs our reviewer couldn’t hear from her left ear the following day.
After playing his second night in Denver on Saturday, Mascis wrapped up his U.S. tour and will continue overseas next month. He’s scheduled to stop in Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands, France, Germany, Sweden, the U.K and more throughout December and January.
