An Aurora bank was robbed twice within a six hour span on Tuesday by two separate men, the second of whom was told the bank didn’t have any money left after the first robbery.
The TCF Bank on the 15300 block of East 6th Avenue when a man walked in and demanded cash from a teller, police said. The suspect then fled east on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Witnesses reported the man did not appear to have a weapon, according to Sgt. Chris Amsler. Federal agents are assisting in the investigation into the robbery.
Then, at 6 p.m., another man walked into the same bank and presented a note to a teller demanding money. Due to the robbery earlier, the teller had no money to give to the suspect and the man left, police said.
No weapon was seen or displayed in the second robbery.
Federal officials then returned for the second investigation.
“Same bank, same day,” Aurora police said.
