My name is Tyler Polumbus and I currently play for the Washington Redskins. I am a University of Colorado graduate and also a Cherry Creek High School graduate. As a 7 year NFL veteran I have a combined 16 years of football under my belt since the day I first stepped foot on the Cherry Creek campus. As you can imagine that has given me countless memories and experiences that most do not have the opportunity of having. Some of my most nostalgic come from my days as a Bruin. In high school football is pure and genuine. Friday night is electric. Your teammates have been your neighbors and friends since the time you were little. There are no politics, no ulterior motives, no pay checks, no trades or cuts, just pure football the way it was intended to be.
A few of you will get a chance to play at the next level. Most of you will not. There are over 1,000,000 HS football players across the nation and only 6.5% of you will play collegiately. Of the 6.5% that make it only 1.6% will make it to the NFL. You all have probably heard these numbers before and the point is not to tell you about the challenges ahead if you choose to continue playing this game, but rather to tell you to never forget this moment. Relish this opportunity, appreciate this opportunity, and seize this opportunity. These chances do not come every day. In my 16 years of football I have won a few divisional titles but never the ultimate championship. They are hard to come by and you all have a chance to bring the Creek Mystique back.
Good Luck.
