Four people were arrested Wednesday night as a group of protesters took to the streets of Denver to rally against the lack of a grand jury indictment against a New York police officer in the case of a black man who died of a chokehold while being arrested.
Denver Police tweeted a little after 10 p.m. that one person was arrested for obstructing the roadway; about an hour later, it sent another tweet, saying two more participants were arrested for obstruction and another for interference.
The police tweet said there was no use of force during the arrests.
A group of what started as about three dozen protesters had left Civic Center park after 7 p.m., circling part of downtown and heading as far as Speer Boulevard. Picking up steam, at its peak the group grew to about 100 people.
Last week, were arrested here on similar charges during a protest march over the Michael Brown case in Ferguson, Mo.
Earlier Wednesday, were injured, one critically, when a motorist slammed into them while students from Denver East High School marched in another Ferguson protest.
