WASHINGTON — In this presidential city, one that measures job progress after just 90 days and checks in frequently thereafter, Nuggets coach Brian Shaw was asked to take the temperature of his tenure after 100 games. Shaw’s 100th game coached was Tuesday’s game against Portland.
His biggest adjustment to being a head coach?
“Understanding that itap a different day and age that we live in,” Shaw said. “Some of the things that we have to deal with that weren’t around. For instance, when I played, cell phones, social media, things of that nature that are just different. When I tell the guys that when I first got in the league in 1988, we didn’t have cell phones; I don’t even know if we had computers. But now itap not uncommon in the middle of a film session for somebody’s phone to go off, or things of that nature. So thatap just a little different dealing with stuff like that, that you haven’t had to deal with before. “
Going into Friday nightap game at Washington, Shaw had a 45-55 record in his first 100 games.
For giggles: Former Nuggets coach George Karl was 43-57 through his first 100 games. Both coaches had identical 36-46 records after their first seasons.
