A cab driver unwittingly became a getaway driver in a Monday morning bank robbery, court documents state.

According to an arrest affidavit, suspected bank robber Brandon Williams took a cab to two Colorado Springs banks robbed in the span of three and half weeks. He left the scene of at least one of the robberies in a cab, according to court documents.

Williams, 32, was arrested Monday after allegedly stealing more than $19,000 from Chase Bank at 3306 Centennial Blvd.

While reviewing surveillance footage, detectives spotted a cab in front of the grocery store. It led to a break in the case.

After contacting the cab driver, police learned he had picked up a man from a home at 1528 Server Drive, near Circle Drive and Fountain Boulevard that morning.
Police identified Williams as their suspect after his name popped up on previous calls for service at the Server Drive address provided by the cab driver.
