Give him credit. Yes, it is allowed to cheer for Broncos coach John Fox. I have often thought he doesn’t get due credit for the team’s success, because the coach is in the shadow of John Elway and Peyton Manning. But it’s a role Fox embraces gracefully.

Kiz: Since the beginning of the season, Fox has: 1) Revised the offensive line three times; 2) discovered a budding star at running back in C.J. Anderson; 3) replaced an all-star kicker dumped by Elway, and 4) convinced Manning throwing less could mean winning more. It sounds to me as if Fox has built a solid case as a coach of the year candidate.
Ram tough. Not sure if I’m getting older and smarter or just plain senile, but I find myself agreeing with most things you write these days, Kiz. Your four-point plan for CSU football success was brilliant, and your suggestion the Rams drop CU from the schedule was genius. If you could still occasionally write something that ticks me off, I’d greatly appreciate it.
Gary, older and wiser
Kiz: Kudos to Colorado State for a 10-win season. But do you really want to get irked? OK, here goes: If CSU were a member of a power five conference this season, the Rams would have been no better than a .500 team.
Oh, brother. I hope the sheep from CSU dump the arrogant Buffs from the football schedule as soon as possible. It has never been a winning proposition for CU. If we win, who cares? If we lose, the Aggies are supermen. Unless the Aggies get into a power five conference, they can huff and puff as much as they want, but they will always be little brother to CU.
John, embodiment of CU class
Kiz: Well, a 4-32 football record in the Pac-12 does allow CU to brag it has membership in a power conference. It also makes it extremely easy for other Pac-12 football teams to schedule a Homecoming opponent.
Prepping. How about Dave Logan as the next football coach at CSU?
Robert,executive recruiter
Kiz: No. I love Logan, the greatest prep football coach in state history. But how about we come up with a new idea when a local college has a vacancy?
Lots at stake. And today’s parting shot acknowledges a simple truth: No matter what the future holds for the Colorado State football program, there’s probably no future worth living in the Mountain West.
CSU needs to fundamentally make a long-term decision: Do the Rams aspire to be a football team in a power five conference, or should they join the Big Sky and drop to the FCS level?
