Winter’s grip is tightening. Consequently, most waters have or soon will have an ice cap. Use caution on Front Range waters, as most ice is still marginal. Head to the high country for good ice. South Park waters are fully capped. Of the group, Tarryall has been the most consistent, but early anglers are doing fair on Antero and Elevenmile. Most fish are shallow and being taken on small tube jigs. Fast action can be found at the Red Feather Lakes. They’re mostly smallish rainbows, but there are few things that won’t work. While a long haul, North Park is another good option for solid action at this time. River fishing is mostly limited to tailwaters with this recent cold. David Coulson,
