1 Get off my lawn. Two boys called Commerce City police Dec. 6 because they said a neighbor ran over to them with a gun in his hand while they were on the sidewalk in front of his house in the 7700 block of East 83rd Avenue and told them to get off his property. The suspect said the boys were deliberately upsetting his dog, so he was just trying to take a picture of them with his cellphone. Police searched his house and clothes, but couldn’t find a gun.
2 Scrap metal stakeout. Commerce City police had been watching a scrap metal yard at Cummins Rocky Mounting Master Rebuild Center, 10850 E. 104th Ave., because thieves had been stealing from it for months. During the night on Dec. 8, an officer staking out the business was crouched in a field when he saw a truck roll up to the yard. Three people jumped out of the truck and into the scrap bins. The officer went back to his car, pulled around and stopped them. They were all cited for trespassing and their truck was towed because none of them had a valid license.
3 Shed damage. Police were called to a man’s home Dec. 8 in the 2000 block of West 92nd Avenue, Federal Heights, because someone smashed a window on his shed and tried to kick in its door. The perpetrator or perpetrators didn’t get inside, but did break a utility box open.
4 Unprovoked attack. A woman who lives in the 9500 block of Pecos Street, Thornton, was arrested for trying to hit another resident of the house Nov. 13. The attack was unprovoked, but the suspect had a history of erratic behavior.
