A federal judge has temporarily blocked the release on bail of a man accused of producing child pornography after U.S. Attorney John Walsh sought an emergency stay.
U.S. District Judge R. Brooke Jackson issued the stay Wednesday in the case against Michael Yellowhorse, who was arrested last week on charges that he created child pornography and posted the images to a photo-sharing website.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Boyd N. Boland had set bail at $25,000 for Yellowhorse on the condition he be held in home detention with electronic monitoring.
Walsh’s office sought the “emergency” stay because of the belief that Yellowhorse is a danger to children and the community, spokesman Jeff Dorschner said.
Prosecutors had asked Boland to hold Yellowhorse without bail pending his trial, Dorschner said.
