Gov. John Hickenlooper will travel to Davos, Switzerland, next weeek to that is focused on addressing 10 global challenges.
He attended the annual conference at the famous ski resort in and and will leave Tuesday for another round of schmoozing with business icons, celebrities and elected leaders.
The Democrat is the only U.S. governor confirmed to attend, , though a number of congressional representatives and Obama administration officials are planning to go.
Hickenlooper sees the forum as a job recruiting opportunity and his office .
The previous two trips Hickenlooper paid it own freight, though the state paid to take the administration’s chief economic development officer. It’s not clear if the same is true for this trip.
The governor’s office said Hickenlooper will speak on a few panels, attend a number of events and meet with business leaders on potential economic development opportunities.
Fiona Arnold, the executive director of the Office of Economic Development and International Trade, will attend this year. “Hickenlooper and Arnold will promote Colorado’s brand of innovation, collaboration and good government. They will also engage companies already doing business in Colorado about growing jobs and recruiting new companies to the state,” the governor’s office said in a statement.
The governor will leave Tuesday and return Saturday, his office said.
