Police in Aurora are searching for several suspects who assaulted a man and kidnapped him at gunpoint Monday night before forcing him to withdraw cash from an ATM.

Passers-by reported at about 9:30 p.m. seeing the man being chased by five or six males. He was running down a road near South Blackhawk Street and East Iliff Avenue and screaming for help.

The man was then forced into a 2000 black Chevrolet Blazer with a temporary tag and driven to an ATM, witnesses told police.

Police said the victim did not report the kidnapping but that they were able to track him down after finding evidence near where he was abducted.

After being found safe at a hotel near where he was kidnapped, he told investigators his story, according to Sgt. Chris Amsler.

Amsler said police are looking into whether the suspects and victim knew one another, adding that the kidnapping was “possibly drug related.”

“Were not sure at this time exactly what their relationship was,” Amsler said.
