Police are investigating two people alleged to have stolen tires off a parked vehicle in Colorado Springs Friday morning.
Around 2:45 a.m., police responded to the 1800 block of Prairie Road after a caller reported two people loading tires into a white, four-door sedan. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle matching the suspects’ and followed it.
“The driver took evasive action and pulled into a driveway in an apparent attempt to go undetected,” Colorado Springs police said in a crime blotter post.
After approaching the vehicle, officers saw four tires in plain view in the back seat. They also found a revolver and a controlled substance in the vehicle.
The front-seat passenger, 27-year-old Courtney Barrios, is a convicted felon. Under law, Barrios is prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.
The driver’s identity was not released.
The investigation is ongoing.
