Gluten-free? We’ve got yer gluten-free right here, pal.

The folks at the like to have fun with their sidewalk chalkboard signs, as we’ve noted in . But on a cold, snow-blasted afternoon — that would be Jan. 21, if you’re keeping score with Old Man Winter — they put up one that brought a smile to even the most frozen face: “Gluten free sign”

It was a nice bit of culinary commentary in an age of dietary fears, some real, some overblown. For the record, the Tavern Uptown on East 17th Avenue does, in fact, have gluten-free items.
