Soup’s on! Soup for the Soul, a charity that benefits end-of-life care and support for seriously ill children, holds its annual fundraiser on Feb. 16.
The evening event will be held at Sheraton Denver Downtown at 1550 Court Place from 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m. It’s one of the tastier fundraisers in the Mile High City: 25 restaurants are participating, each offering a soup-and-appetizer combo for attendees to sample.
Proceeds benefit Porter Hospice, St. Anthony Hospice and The Butterfly Program. Tickets are $100 a person, or $80 if the attendee is a Centura Health employee or a young professional under age 40.
Among this year’s contestants and their soup-and-appetizer offerings: (foraged mushroom bisque/hazelnut-crusted prawn and sherry agro dolce), (smoked potato and leek soup/chilled shrimp salad), (beef and barley stew/short rib, mashed potatoes and crispy onions) and (New England clam chowder/shrimp pico on a homemade chip.)
Chefs Jennifer Jasinski and Tim Kuklinski of will return to defend the title they won in 2014. Last year they took top honors with a posole accompanied by a mango-avocado salad. This year they’re entering butternut squash soup a la Montava and a challah bread pudding.)
