As we head into the second month of 2015, we look for a rather quiet and milder-than-normal beginning.
Little in the way of precipitation is expected in the Denver area through the first week of February, and temperatures could top 60 degrees on a few occasions. That’s something, considering that the normal high is still in the middle 40s.
Overall, we expect the month to wind up with near-normal temperatures, as systems try coming underneath a western ridge.
These southern stream systems may bring some snow, but that will be mainly in the mountains west of Denver. These systems are more likely to bring rain showers to the city itself.
If there are going to be any opportunities for snow in Denver, they would probably be during the second half of the month.
As far as temperatures go, the second half will tend to have one or two significant cold shots. These will probably bring enough colder-than-normal days to balance out the above-normal temperatures in the first half of February and result in near-normal temperatures for the month overall.
