Authorities in Douglas County are investigating after an explosive “acid device” was found for .
Officials called the two devices “similar in composition.”
The second device was discovered at Marcy Park, in the 9300 block of Desert Willow Road in Highlands Ranch, at about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The device was found by sheriff’s deputies, who have been increasing patrols in parks, searching for any suspicious devices.
“The device vented and therefore did not explode, and there are no injuries,” the sheriff’s office said.
On Tuesday, a similar device exploded near a young child in Dad Clark Park, off of McArthur Ranch Road in Highlands Ranch.
The child was taken to a hospital and treated for minor injuries after the incident, which officials said happened at about 2 p.m. Detectives said the device was created inside a plastic bottle.
The child was playing with four friends at the park when they saw the bottle on the basketball court and touched it.
Detectives from the sheriff’s office searched the park after the blast, and no other devices were found.
“No additional description (of the devices) is being released at this time,” the office said.
Anyone with information about the devices is asked to call 303-660-7579. Those who see anything suspicious are asked to call 911.
