Police in Denver responding to reports overnight Thursday of a burglary at an elementary school arrested a man and four boys.

Juan Sierra-Rios, 18, was identified by police as the adult arrested in the alleged burglary. Sierra-Rios is being held at the city’s downtown jail on suspicion of second-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Two of the boys were 16 years old, one was 14 years old and another was 13 years old, police said.

Denver police said the incident happened at Columbine Elementary School in the 2500 block of 29th Avenue at about 1 a.m.

A helicopter and a K-9 unit were used in the investigation, police said.

The school was closed for renovations this year.
