Re: “With gay marriage in legal limbo, Alabama activists seek leverage,” Feb. 11 news story.
Alabama’s Judge Roy Moore is completely right ignoring the federal court ruling overturning the Alabama’s state constitution’s definition of marriage as only between one man and one woman. Alabama is simply affirming the self-evident truth of bodily sexual reality. The reproductive reality of natural marriage is vividly apparent. Infertile couples suffer from a defect in nature. Aging couples experience the effects of nature. Neither violates nature. Same-sex partners necessarily violate the natural purpose and form of their bodies.
The nation that rejects self-evident truth has become intellectually and morally blind and will legalize further absurdities. The Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment does not grant equal rights for non-qualified persons. Toddlers are American citizens but (gasp!) are denied the right to vote because they lack the intellectual capability to make informed decisions. Persons of the same sex disqualify themselves to marry because they lack complementary sexual differentiation.
