CARBONDALE, Colo. (AP) — Police in western Colorado are investigating a homicide after a man injured in a crash told emergency workers that he had just killed his wife.

The crash happened Monday just outside Carbondale.

Police say the unidentified man rear-ended an empty cattle truck and was being airlifted to the hospital when he told the medical helicopter crew that he had killed his wife in an apartment building. The Glenwood Springs Post Independent (http://bit.ly/1EKc7DV) reports that police eventually found a body of a person dead of suspected knife wounds in an apartment in Carbondale.

The town hasn’t had a homicide in over 10 years.

The man and the victim have not been identified.
