It will be on for Jesse Reed on Saturday night.
The Paonia senior made it official — he advanced to the 2A final at 126 and will compete for his fourth consecutive weight-class title at th3e Pepsi Center in the 80th Colorado tournament.
Reed continued his onslaught on a field that has yet to come close to challenging him. In the semifinals, he motored to a 15-1 major decision of Wray’s Jake Rockwell.
And it’s familiar for Reed. Now 45-0, he earned another major decision (11-1) in the quarterfinals after opening with a pin in 1 minute, 7 seconds in the preliminaries.
He will meet Rocky Ford’s Jeremy Fraser (38-6), a junior, in the finale.
Reed can become the state’s 18th four-time champion. A year ago, Broomfield’s Phil Downing grabbed his fourth.
