Consider Class 5A’s first round of girls basketball playoffs as having gone off without much incident. The higher seeds swept. And other than two-time defending champion Regis Jesuit’s 46-40 victory over visiting Pomona, every other game but two were won by double figures.

CHEROKEE TRAIL 44, HERITAGE 37


Get this — Cherokee Trail’s girls scored only one point in the second quarter, yet won. Jaleesa Avery’s 13 points and 11 by Anatacia Johnson led the Cougars, who evened their record at 12-12. The Eagles finished 10-14.

CASTLE VIEW 84, PRAIRIE VIEW 45


The SaberCats scored at least 20 points in every quarter for a consistent victory. They are 12-12. Prairie View ended 10-14.

CHAPARRAL 58, COLUMBINE 34


The Wolverines jumped out to a 20-2 lead after the first quarter in rolling the Rebels. Chaparral is another program that leveled its mark at 12-12 into the second round. Columbine finished 8-16.

LEGEND 71, GATEWAY 51


The Titans grabbed the elad early and cruised past the Olympians. Legend moved to 15-9; Gateway ended 11-13.

MOUNTAIN VISTA 82, MOUNTAIN RANGE 36


Molly McCabe (22 points), Paige Keller (14), Chelsea Pearson (11) and Kristen Burr (10) led the Golden Eagles on a romp. Mountain Vista is 14-10. Mountain Range ended 10-14.

FAIRVIEW 68, BRIGHTON 31


The Knights erupted for a 24-5 lea in crusing past the Bulldogs. Fairview advanced to 14-10 and Brighton called it a season at 10-14.

HORIZON 65, ROCK CANYON 43


The Hawks built a 22-point lead in the first half and made it stick in a rout of the Jaguars. Horizon moved to 15-9 and the Jags ended 8-16.

LOVELAND 71, ARVADA WEST 23


The Indians enjoyed the largest margin of the round as Emma Sterkel went for 19 points. Loveland is 17-7. Arvada West finished 7-17.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN 59, CHATFIELD 46


The Lobos rode Asiah Lawson’s game-high 22 points to a 13-point victory despite being outscored 7-3 in the first quarter. Rocky Mountain climbed to 14-10. Chatfield ended 9-15.

POUDRE 34, EAGLECREST 21


The lowest-scoring game of the round was won by the Impalas, who evened their mark at 12-12. Eaglecrest finished 8-16.

GEORGE WASHINGTON 50, FORT COLLINS 37


The Patriots allowed only eight points in the first half in taking down the Lambkins. GW improved to 15-9. Fort Collins ended 7-17.

FRUITA MONUMENT 63, LIBERTY 57


The Wildcats had a fight on their hands before outlasting the Lancers. Fruita Monument advanced to 14-10. Liberty went out swinging at 6-18.

PALMER 70, RANGEVIEW 45


Jenn Urbaniak went for 26 points and 12 rebounds as the Terrors won handily. Palmer is 13-11. Rangeview finished 11-13.

BEAR CREEK 54, DOHERTY 49


Edina Krusko’s 19 points led the Bears past the Spartans. Bear Creek advanced to 13-11. Doherty ended 9-15.

DAKOTA RIDGE 66, DOUGLAS COUNTY 51


The Eagles moved to 13-11 with a home victory over the Huskies (7-17).
