Through March 6: National Geographic photographers are known for going the extra mile to capture remote landscapes — and for finding creative ways to accomplish their visual mission. One of the magazine’s true stars, George Steinmetz, has his own method, using “the lightest and slowest motorized paraglider that exists” to sail above otherwise unreachable desert landscapes. He’s spent 15 years in the air over a considerable 27 countries, and the results are on display now in the lobby of the 1801 California skyscraper in downtown Denver. Steinmetz’s 28 landscapes take on an otherworldly feel underscored by a present-day urgency to make sure his subjects are preserved for the future.
