Blizzard conditions over the next day or two are expected to leave as much as 4 feet of snow in the southwestern part of the state, with wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.
A blizzard warning is in effect for the eastern San Juan Mountains, including Wolf Creek Pass until 11 p.m. Monday, meteorologist Jim Kalina said Sunday.
Most of the western portion of the state is under a winter storm warning, with Aspen, Vail, and other areas expected to receive 1 to 2 feet of snow before 5 p.m. Tuesday, Kalina said.
The Denver metro area should have a dry day on Monday, and temperatures, which hovered at about 24 degrees on Sunday afternoon, are expected to climb into the 30s.
But Tuesday is expected to bring another 2 to 4 inches of the white stuff to the metro area, Kalina said.
The snow should let up by Wednesday, though it will remain cold, with temperatures in the teens, Kalina said.
