Authorities in Arapahoe County have identified the 51-year-old woman killed in a on Monday morning.
Jody L. Johnson died of smoke inhalation and “thermal injuries” sustained during a fire at her residence, the county coroner’s office said. The fire happened at the Liberty Creek Apartments on the 13100 block of East Kansas Drive.
The Aurora Fire Department said the fire was caused by a person smoking while on oxygen. Officials did not indicate if Johnson was the one smoking on oxygen.
Officials initially said Johnson was injured in the blaze and taken to a hospital before later announcing her death.
