A middle school student walking home from school in northeast Denver was attacked by a man who “grabbed and groped” her, before she was able to flee.
The incident happened Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of East 19th Avenue and Kearney Street, according a letter from the school’s principal to parents of students.
The student, who attends McAuliffe International School, 2540 Holly St., was able to run away from the assailant and she immediately told her parents what had happened, according to the bulletin from Principal William Kohut of Denver School of the Arts.
The school of arts is a neighbor of the McAuliffe school.
The Denver Police Department is investigating the incident.
Denver Public Schools has stepped up security patrols and measures in the area, the school said.
