Friday-Sunday: This is an important weekend for the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. Special guest Anne Akiko Meyers really is special, an in-demand violinist known to wow with her fashion sense and virtuoso playing. She’s a got a lot to work with here with Samuel Barber’s extremely popular Violin Concerto. The weekend concerts conclude the CSO’s new “American Festival,” with a 20th-century program that starts with George Gershwin’s “Cuban Overture” and ends with Stephen Albert’s “RiverRun,” an intriguing choice that will challenge the musicians and conductor Andrew Litton. Remember, you can stream this concert live on the Web, too. 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Boettcher Concert Hall, Denver Performing Arts Complex. $25-$89. 303-623-7876 or .
