Like its audience, storytelling show has grown up over the years. And for a show that’s struggling to accommodate demand at its live events, growing up means growing out.
To mark its fifth anniversary, the eclectic stage show and podcast — founded by Denver comic — is flying in Portland, Ore., indie musician , announcing a new co-host (Buntport Theater’s Erin Rollman, starting in April), and doing a pair of shows this month instead of the usual one.
Catch the fifth anniversary lineup (theme: “Symbiosis”) at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on March 18, with stories from Harris, former co-host Robert Rutherford (now based in San Diego), Ellen K. Graham, Kelly shortandqueer, Jeff Campbell, the Nix Bros., Janae Burris, Jan Scott-Frazier, Heather Nicholson Hughs, Timmi Lasley and Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald.
It’s hosted, as always, by Orvedahl and Ron S. Doyle.
Additionally, the brains behind The Narrators are developing a Spanish-language spin-off with Museo de Las Americas, a multilingual event with the Flobots/Youth on Record nonprofit (for the Denver Art Museum’s “Untitled” series), a comic book with Denver Comic Con, and even a San Diego version, set to debut this summer with hosts Rutherford and Mary Robertson.
