The 6-foot-5, 210-pound guard led the Mustangs to the 3A boys state basketball championship in each of the last two seasons, but fell short of the title both times.
Bassey led 3A in scoring with an average of 23.0 points, and also had 8.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists, leading Academy to a 20-7 record.
