BOULDER — The city plans to launch free public wireless Internet access in the downtown Civic Area early next month.
The rollout of Connect Boulder, scheduled for the evening of April 7, represents the city’s first step under voter-approved Issue 2C toward leveraging Boulder’s substantial fiber-optic network for the broader community.
With the passage of Issue 2C last fall, voters exempted Boulder from a state law that doesn’t allow local governments to offer Internet service to the public. Now Boulder has convened a working group to develop a plan to expand high-speed Internet service to city homes and businesses.
