Joe Warren, of Monument, lost his bantamweight title to Marcos Galvao Friday by technical submission 45 seconds into the second round at Bellator 135 in Thackerville, Okla.
Warren screamed out when Galvao had a kneebar locked in. According to the post-match announcement, a vocal scream, whether voluntary or not, constitutes as a verbal submission. Warren complained about the decision after the match.
“C’mon, give me a break. I did not submit,” he said in the post-match interview.
Warren falls to 12-4 while Galvao improved to 17-6-1.
