GOP chairman Steve House. (The Denver Post)

Oops. New Colorado Republican chairman Steve House made an error in his first fundraising e-mail, accusing “Denver Democrats” of killing a TABOR refund bill when actually the measure has yet to even be scheduled for a hearing.

House, , outlined the “common sense conservative bills” that “Democrat obstructionists” in the state House have killed. (Republicans control the Senate; Democrats the House.) The chairman included in the list of dead bills Senate Bill 1 from Senate President Bill Cadman, R-Colorado Springs, “which puts TABOR money into the pockets of the working families.”

But Senate Republicans are waiting until the legislature passes the budget before taking up the measure which, by the way, the left-leaning Colorado Fiscal Institute .

“Despite the GOP’s courageous victory in November in taking control of the State Senate, the radical left still has an unrelenting strangle hold on the State Capitol. We must hold the Denver Democrats accountable,” House wrote.

His use of the word “Denver Democrats” throughout the letter is curious. Denver of course is a Democratic powerhouse but neither of the top two Democrats in the legislature are from the Mile High City. House Speaker Dickey Lee Hullinghorst is from Boulder, while Senate Minority Leader Morgan Carroll is from Aurora.

The boo boo isn’t a major one but Democrats are giggling, of course, just as Republicans would be if the situation were reversed.

Here’s the full letter:

Dear Fellow Republicans,

I am certain you are as shocked as I am by the Denver Democrats efforts to stonewall our Republican legislators at every turn.

Despite the GOP’s courageous victory in November in taking control of the State Senate, the radical left still has an unrelenting strangle hold on the State Capitol.

We must hold the Denver Democrats accountable!

I assure you the State GOP is 100% focused on taking the fight straight to Democrats in 2016. We are aggressively organizing our team, raising money and putting in place the tools necessary to restore Republican dominance in the next election cycle.

But, please understand the Democrats are watching us.

The Democrat leadership teams in Denver and Washington DC are waiting with bated breath to view our next campaign finance reports to see if we are able to unite our party and mobilize our donors to join us in this important fight.

Will you make an emergency contribution of $5, $25, $50 or more to send a strong message to the Denver Democrats that the GOP is united in holding them accountable!

We must support our Republican state legislative team who has been leading the fight to pass common sense conservative bills all session. Not surprisingly though, the Democrat obstructionists in the House of Representatives are killing these important bills at every opportunity.

Republican Senator Ray Scott (Mesa County) sponsored SB—044 which rolled back the radical environmentalist 2013 efforts to raise utility rates on rural Colorado. Again, this common sense jobs creation bill saw an untimely death in the Democrat controlled House of Representatives.

Republican House Minority Whip Perry Buck (Weld County) sponsored HB—1119 that would hold government entities that bans hydraulic fracturing liable to the mineral right owner for the lost access to their property. Again the bill was killed on a party-line vote in the House State Affairs Committee.

Republican Senators Chris Holbert (Douglas County) and John Cook (Weld County) sponsored SB–175 which will repeal the unnecessary and unenforceable high capacity magazine ban. This bill easily passed out of the Senate but is certain to die in the Democrat controlled House of Representatives.

Republican State Representative Landgraf (El Paso County) sponsored HB—1112 which would protect infants born alive following a failed abortion. Unbelievably, this bill was killed in a House committee on a party line vote.

Republican Senator Tim Neville (Jefferson County) sponsored SB—15 which would repeal the punitive late vehicle registration fees that were forced upon hardworking families during the Democrat Governor Ritter era. Yep, once again, this important bill was killed by the Democrat controlled House of Representatives.

Republican Representative Don Coram (Montrose) and Kim Ransom (Highlands Ranch) both sponsored bills to require photo ID for people registering and voting on the same day. Both bills were killed in the Democrat controlled House

Republican Senate President Bill Cadman (El Paso County) sponsored SB—001 which puts back TABOR money into the pockets of the working families. You guessed it, the bill was also killed in the Democrat controlled House of Representatives.

These are all important bills for Colorado families and businesses. But, as you can see, the out of touch Denver Democrat leadership under the gold dome is abusively running roughshod over the liberties of ALL Coloradans.
