The National Football League is eyeing expansion into the international market. NFL owners were told at the NFL annual meeting earlier in the week that the league is considering expanding into Germany, China and even Brazil for the Pro Bowl.

“The work we’re doing now is to ask, ‘How do we accelerate the agenda in Mexico, Canada and China?'” NFL’s executive vice president of international Mark Waller .

Football is the world’s sport but it’s the not the football of the NFL. Is expansion a viable option? Would a permanent overseas team work in the NFL?

Woody Paige believes the NFL is trying tap into the international market faster than the NBA.

“I think the NFL is trying to beat the NBA to the punch,” Paige said. “And they’re trying to creep into the soccer world.”

Les Shapiro thinks that an international team would be problematic due to a more rigorous traveling schedule.

“It think it’s going to be a problem from the players’ standpoint because most American players will not want to play overseas and a lot of the players do not like the travel,” Shaprio said. “We’ve heard it when the Broncos have gone overseas…they don’t like the idea of all that travel.”
