North High School Principal Nicole Veltze surprises a student, chiding him for wearing a hat in the hallway. (Cyrus McCrimmon, The Denver Post)
Re: “Denver’s North High showing signs that latest improvements will stick,” March 22 news story.
We would like to express our thanks to Principal Nicole Veltze for her achievements and those of her staff and the students of North High School. It appears that they are accomplishing a task that many said could not be done.
As ’48 grads of North, my wife and I have followed the ups and downs of our alma mater with interest and concern. It was a good school and we have always been convinced that it should and could be one again.
Take notice, Colorado schools, Veltze is demonstrating that the road to education today can be navigated with care and involvement of all facets of the school population. Hopefully the funding authorities are evaluating the success of the North educators, too, and are willing to put their money where their mouth is.
Go Vikings!
