Denver police used tear gas to coax two women and a man out of a barricaded garage at Bayaud and King streets after a standoff Tuesday afternoon.

Police attempts to execute outstanding arrest warrants against a male suspect led to the impasse and several hours of negotiations before police tossed in a tear gas cannister, police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.

The standoff ended around 4 p.m., he said.

Police were not releasing names or pending charges or details of the warrants. Jackson said the three were in police custody.

Initial contact with the residence — an attempt to execute the arrest warrants — led to two female subjects of unknown ages exiting the residence, but three people locked themselves in the garage, Jackson said.
