COLORADO SPRINGS — An El Paso County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant injured in mid-March during a training exercise has been released from the hospital, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.
Lt. Joe Roybal was injured March 18 during a Special Response Team training exercise while shooting at steel targets, sheriff’s office spokeswoman Jackie Kirby said. One of Roybal’s shots ricocheted off the target and hit him.
Kirby would not say how seriously Roybal was injured, citing privacy laws, but said Roybal was released from the hospital sometime last week and is now recovering at home.
