Drivers who use East Colfax Avenue will notice some slight delays this summer as the Colorado Department of Transportation will conduct a $4.8 million resurfacing project between Colorado Boulevard and Clarkson Street.

The project is scheduled to begin sometime in May. No start date has been announced, but it will start after the , according to CDOT spokeswoman Emily Wilfong. Construction should wrap up sometime in the fall.

Work hours will go from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to avoid peak travel times. Only one lane will be closed in each direction at any time if necessary. Wilfong said there maybe some nighttime and weekend work, but none is scheduled at this time. There will be no work on holidays.

Due to new federal mandates, the project will also include curb and gutter replacements to bring them up to current standards. Construction is completely funded by CDOT since Colfax Avenue is also a federal highway, U.S. 40.
