Brutus, a two-year-old Rottweiler who had his paws cut off by his first owner when he was a few months old, is now learning to walk outside with four new prosthetic paws. Laura Aquilina, who fostered Brutus for more than a year before adopting him, has been working with OrthoPets, the Denver company that built the prosthetics, and an animal rescuer who helped her raise money for Brutus’ medical bills. Now, therapists from the animal orthopedics and sports medicine department at Colorado State University will begin physical therapy sessions with Brutus to help him learn to use the paws.
